Frequently asked questions

What is macroeconomic forecasting?
It is the modelling of an economy's main variables — inflation, growth, unemployment, policy rates and currencies — to produce dated, numeric expectations for where they go next. Terminus publishes each forecast before the data is released and scores it against the official outcome.
How accurate is the Terminus model?
The full record is public on the track record page: central bank decisions, macro forecasts scored on absolute error, and currency direction calls. Hits and misses are both listed, with the month each forecast was made.
Which economies and indicators are covered?
Inflation, GDP growth, unemployment, policy rates and the major currency pairs, across the economies listed on the forecasting page. Additional coverage can be added for a retained engagement.
How is this different from bank research?
Bank research is written around a sell-side franchise and is rarely scored. Terminus publishes a time-stamped forecast, never revises it backwards, and is judged on the resulting accuracy record rather than on narrative.
Is this personalised investment advice?
No. Our published research and forecasts are general information. Advisory engagements are contracted separately in writing, with the scope defined in that agreement, and nothing on the public site should be treated as a personal recommendation.
How do engagements and fees work?
Engagements are scoped after a first consultation — a single-question review, a project, or retained coverage. Fees are quoted per engagement once the scope is clear, and set out in the written agreement before work starts.
Do I need a terminal account?
Not for advisory. A free account only gives you the published macroeconomic reports. Advisory clients receive their briefs directly.
How do I start?
Book an advisory consultation. It is a working call: we look at your exposures and your horizon and tell you plainly whether the model has anything useful to add.

How we start

The first consultation is a working call, not a sales pitch. We look at your exposures and tell you whether the model has anything useful to add.
